    Method 1 : Listen to the sound

    Let the machine tool idle the spindle in MDI mode and listen carefully to see if there is any abnormal sound or vibration in the bearing. If conditions permit, try several speeds to judge. If the sound is sharp or accompanied by loud noise, and the spindle has obvious vibration, these may be related to bearing damage.

    Method 2: Accuracy measurement

    Check the circular runout data of the inner hole of the lathe spindle, which is normally required to be within 0.005mm. Use a micrometer to measure the needle change when the inner hole of the spindle is stressed, and check the movement of the spindle under stress. If it exceeds the above value range, it may indicate that there is damage inside the bearing.

    Method 3: Look at the load

    Manually rotate the spindle to see if it rotates flexibly. At the same time, open the machine parameter screen to check whether the load is out of tolerance when the spindle is idling. The load during idling or processing is generally within 30%. If it exceeds this range, it indicates that there is a problem with the bearing.

    Method 4: Observe the appearance

    If there is a way to expose the spindle bearing, you can directly observe the appearance of the spindle bearing to check whether there are any damages such as bumps, peeling of rolling element skin, severe tilting of inner and outer rings, etc. If any of the above damages are found, consider replacing the bearing.

    What are the causes of lathe spindle bearing damage?

    1. Overload operation. The lathe spindle speed is too high or it is in an overload state for a long time. The bearing is subjected to a load exceeding the limit, which will cause the bearing to overheat, deform or even be damaged.

    2. If the bearings are not maintained for a long time, they need to be regularly maintained, cleaned, and lubricated. If the maintenance is not timely, the bearings are prone to damage due to poor lubrication, intrusion of debris, etc.

    3. Improper installation method. If the bearing is installed incorrectly, such as not ensuring the matching accuracy between the bearing and the shaft or the bearing seat, or using too much force during installation, the bearing may be damaged and cause unnecessary quality problems.

    4. The working environment is bad. If the bearing works in an environment containing corrosive substances, it is easy for the bearing to be corroded and damaged. In addition, extreme temperature differences will also cause changes in the performance of the bearing material and affect the service life of the bearing.
