Outer Gear Ring

The outer gear ring is an annular part with equally spaced teeth  processed on its outer circumference.The axial distance between the outer gear and the outer gear ring should be maintained at 2.5-5 millimeters. In this way, when the main circuit is connected, the starter gear and flywheel ring gear have not yet engaged and have already rotated at high speed. When they come into contact, they will naturally make a noise due to collision, and the two cannot mesh, so the engine cannot start.

Overview of Outer gear ring

As one of the simplest and most commonly used gear devices, the outer gear ring is widely used in gear pumps and other industrial products to ensure smooth operation. These gears have straight teeth parallel to the axis. Teeth transmit rotational motion between parallel axes. axial distance between the outer gear and the outer gear ring should be maintained at 2.5-5 millimeters. In this way, when the main circuit is connected, the starter gear and flywheel ring gear have not yet engaged and have already rotated at high speed. When they come into contact, they will naturally make a noise due to collision, and the two cannot mesh, so the engine cannot start. In case of this fault: The gap between the static and dynamic contacts of the starter electromagnetic switch can be increased; Add a pad between the electromagnetic switch and the rear shell of the starter; Eliminate excess clearance in the middle support pin of the starter fork; Replace the sliding block or pulley on the shifting fork that has become less worn; When installing the gear ring on the flywheel, do not press the outer gear ring onto the bottom of the flywheel, leave a gap of 2-3 millimeters or use methods such as thickening the gear ring to eliminate it.

Features of outer gear ring

1. When the outer gear ring teeth are worn on one side, the outer gear ring can be turned upside down for use; 2. When individual external teeth are damaged, they can continue to be used. However, when the gear does not mesh into the gear ring, a hand crank can be used to first rotate the crankshaft, causing the damaged gear ring to be misaligned with the starter gear; 3. If both sides of the outer gear ring are severely worn, it should be replaced with new parts or repaired by welding. If the outer gear ring is severely worn and the engine runs unevenly, it is caused by the wear of the outer gear ring and the loss of balance, and the balance should be corrected. 4. The heating temperature when replacing the outer gear ring should not exceed 400 ℃, otherwise it will cause the gear ring to lose its hardness and become less durable.
