Transportation, installation and maintenance of special bearings
Export shipments of large specialty bearings require careful packaging of the bearings using custom crates or protective covers, and may require a crane or specialized rigging equipment for loading and unloading. Before installation, the bearing housing and surrounding components must be thoroughly cleaned to prevent contaminants such as dust, dirt or moisture from damaging the bearings. Attention must also be paid to the surrounding environment during installation. Extreme temperatures, vibration or the presence of corrosive materials can affect the installation process and the long-term performance of the bearing. Several special tools should be prepared in advance to facilitate proper installation. These may include precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators and micrometers to ensure accurate alignment, bearing pullers or hydraulic presses for installing and removing large bearings. Regular inspections should prevent any early signs of wear, misalignment or contamination of the bearings, and the bearings should be properly greased with specialized grease or oil to ensure smooth operation.
